README
Bazel
Bazel is Google's open-source build and test tool. It models a build as a dependency graph, hashes every input, and skips anything that hasn't changed, so a rebuild after touching one file stays fast even in a workspace with thousands of targets, and a build that succeeds on one machine reproduces the same outputs on another.
Most workspaces pin the version they build with via .bazelversion and
launch Bazel through bazelisk rather than installing this package
directly. Mirror bazel itself when you want one version pinned without a
launcher indirection — a container image, an air-gapped build, or a CI job
that shouldn't have to resolve .bazelversion at all.
What's included
- bazel — the single binary, bundling its own Java runtime. It needs no
JDK on the host and runs wherever it lands. Upstream's
nojdkbuild, which drops that runtime and requires a host JVM, is not mirrored for that reason.
Usage
bazel build //...
Builds every target in the workspace. Bazel reads the MODULE.bazel (or
WORKSPACE) and BUILD files under the current directory the same way it
does when launched through bazelisk.
